Theodore Henry “Ted” Derrick, Jr.

Theodore Henry “Ted” Derrick, Jr., age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 18, 2021.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on August 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Theodore Henry and Anna (Miedzianowska) Derrick, Sr. Ted dedicated more than 30 years of service as a pipefitter for DuPont. He was an avid cowboy action shooter who most will remember by his alias, “Butz Aiken”. Ted enjoyed target shooting and time spent outdoors, especially fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also prized his harmonica, and could be found tinkering with it all over his home. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be dearly missed by his beloved family.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janice Florence (Turner) Derrick. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Heine and Pamela Kwiatkowski (Bill); grandchildren, Heather West, Sean Moffett (Allison) and Jessica Heine; and great grandchildren, Derrick Moffett, Skylar Moffett and Calvin Reynolds.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s memory to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
