Theodore R. Teddy Christopher II
Born: 8/1/1972
Died: 10/13/2012
Teddy Christopher, 40, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
Teddy was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on August 1, 1972, son of Ted and Kathleen Christopher of New Castle. A 1990 graduate of William Penn High School, Teddy went on to graduate from the apprentice program of the Insulators Local 42 in New Castle in 1997, where he worked as a mechanic out of the union hall for the last 21 years.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy-St. Gabriel’s Lodge and the Sons of the American Legion at Joseph B. Stahl Post #30, both in New Castle. Teddy was naturally gifted at being able to fix anything. From plumbing to electrical work, boat motors to his daughters’ toys, even if he never did something before, he would figure it out and fix it. He was an avid duck and upland hunter and enjoyed showing off the skills of his hunting dogs, Blue and Rip, just as much as the hunt itself. Teddy loved to shoot sporting clays and was pretty proud of himself for what a great shot he had become. He also loved being on the water and spending time at the family cottage (garage) at the beach.
Teddy was mostly known for his unmatchable sense of humor and wit and a smile that would light up a room. It was that sense of humor and his patient demeanor that made him a remarkable father to his two young daughters.
In addition to his parents, Teddy is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 16 years, Lisa Kachmar Christopher; daughters, Delaney and Morgan Faye; nephew, Colby Christopher; father- and mother-in-law, Jack and Bonnie Kachmar; brother-in-law, Ryan Kachmar (Nicole); uncle, Robert Thomas (Tracy); aunt, Judy Egner; cousins, Kris Ann Payne (Donnie), Michael Egner, Brandon Payne (Godson), and Ryan Payne; and best friend since childhood, Michael Amalfitano. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Brent Christopher, paternal grandparents, Richard and Dolores Christopher, and maternal grandparents, Robert and Josephine Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
