Mr. Thomas F. Verucci, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 23, 1937, Mr. Verucci was the son of the late Enrico Verucci and Pauline Sabbato Verucci. He worked as a truss fabricator for Porter Industries until his retirement.
Mr. Verucci was an avid walker, and greatly enjoyed his casual jaunts – traveling wherever, and not minding how long it would take him to get to his destination. He was a collector of “junk” of all kinds. In his leisure hours, Mr. Verucci was a member of the Tack club in Collins Park, where he liked socializing with friends. Above all else he was a devoted family man whose children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to him.
He was predeceased by 7 brothers, James, Henry, Leonard, Philip, Joseph, Alfred, and Alex Veruci; and 2 sisters, Jessie Bates and Julia Povey. Mr. Verucci is survived by his children, Jay Verucci of New Castle, Joyce Hartman of New Castle, and James Eskridge of Smyrna; former wife, Betsy Verucci; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; his companion, Natalie Terranova; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5 until 7 pm at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the funeral home, where a second visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
