Thomas Russell “Tom” Powers
April 24, 1962 - July 3, 2024
Thomas Russell Powers, age 62, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Born in Titusville, PA, on April 24, 1962, he was a son of Patricia (English) and the late Francis X. Powers. After graduating from Bishop Carroll High School in Pennsylvania, Tom enlisted in the US Navy where he proudly served his country for 6 years. Upon his discharge, he held several professions before starting his career as an engineer at the Delaware City Refinery, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service.
Tom loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed working on cars and his extensive knowledge of electronics allowed him to rebuild many computers as a hobby. Most of all, Tom enjoyed being surrounded with lots of love from his huge family.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Lucille (Rockhold) Powers; son, Benjamin G. Powers; stepsons, Sam Rosado (Mandi) and Jon Rosado; siblings, Brian Powers, Jeff Powers (Tammy), Vince Powers, Clete Powers (Debbie), Madeline Cantu (Dave), Jeannine Prindle (Rob), Barbie Powers (Bill), and Erin Powers (James); grandchildren, Caitlin Rosado (Justin), Rian Rosado, Emma Rosado, and Zoey Rosado; great grandson, Carson Way; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be held privately.

Tom was a great guy with a good sense of humor. He was smart and always willing to lend a hand.
I know he has fought the cancer battle a long time. He inspired me with my own battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed.
