Mrs. Ulrike Jobst Spencer, known fondly as Riki, age 46, of Dover, DE, formerly of Newark, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.


Mrs. Spencer was born in Zurich, Switzerland, on December 9, 1964, and was raised in the United States. A talented homemaker, she had also been employed for a time with the former Bank of Delaware.


Mrs. Spencer had a variety of interesting hobbies throughout her life and particularly enjoyed classic cars, drag racing competitions, smallmouth bass fishing on the Brandywine River, and surf fishing. A gifted artist as well, she worked in oils and painted many beautiful floral still life canvases. In her younger years, she was also an accomplished equestrian.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Silke M. Gerken Cutts. She is survived by her beloved husband of nine years, Christopher Jude Spencer; father, Wolfram Jobst and his wife, Juanita, of Mansfield, PA; brother, Gernot Jobst and his wife, Laurie, of Newark; sister, Sabine Casazza and her husband, Chris, of Minneapolis, MN; and six nieces.


Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
