Valerie M. Volk, age 74, of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 14, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Rich) Nespoli. Valerie graduated from St. James High School in Carneys Point in 1963. She went to beautician school and started her career as a beautician. Following the birth of her children, she enjoyed being a stay at home mom and housewife. In 1991 she went to work for Discover Card where she devoted 27 years of dedicated service as an account manager. She retired from Discover in 2018.

She enjoyed interior decorating, arts and crafts, and loved decorating for Christmas. Valerie enjoyed watching home improvement shows, PBS and Hallmark. Valerie will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grand mom, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend to many.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Charles T. “Chick” Volk; children, Robert D. Clemente, Jr. (Angie) and Jonathan M. Garrison; step-daughter, Tara A. Mestre (Tim); sister, Donna McGovern; grandchildren, Krystal Clemente (Nuni), Anthony Clemente (Megan), Salvatore Clemente (Sydney), Alexis Chang and Tiatiana Mestre; great grandson, Dominic R. Santiago; brother-in-law, Larry Volk; and several nephews and nieces.

All services and entombment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Valerie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

We would be talking away and she would be cutting away…..I learned that I had to stop her from chatting or I wouldn’t have any hair left. She was a dear friend and will be very missed by many.   • Chick, I am heartbroken to hear this. I worked with Val during her entire tenure at Discover. She was my lunch partner until the day she got sick and had to stay home. I was the VP of her Piss and Moan Club. She attended several outings with my fire company auxiliary. I truly regret not seeing her since my retirement. I loved Val and will miss her more than ever.
