Virginia Carol Greiner
December 31, 1942 - June 11, 2024
Virginia Carol Greiner, age 81, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2024.
Born in Pocahontas, VA on December 31, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. Goodwin and Ada (Asbury) Lester. Virginia moved to Delaware where she met her husband, William and started a family. She was a hairdresser for many years until retiring to babysit her two grandchildren whom she loved so much.
For years, Virginia was involved in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and held down several officer positions. She was also the active secretary for her Women’s Club located in the Weston Senior Center. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her friends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Anyone who knew Virginia knew her warm smile and infectious laugh. She had a big heart and would help anyone.
In addition to her countless hours spent volunteering, Virginia loved creating beautiful crafts or relaxing with a good book. She looked forward to traveling to new places and going out to eat with those she loved most. Virginia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. We will all miss her tremendously!
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, William Greiner, Jr.; and brothers, Dale and Larry Lester. She is survived by her children, Karen George (Chuck) and Anthony Greiner (Jennifer); grandchildren, Andrew George and Jamie George; and great-granddaughter, Audrey George.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm at Karen George’s residence after the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to the Weston Senior Center, 1 Bassett Avenue, Manor Park, New Castle, DE 19720 or online by clicking here; VFW Auxiliary, 649 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702; or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Karen and family
I am so sorry I was not able to attend Carol’s service. I remember the first trip I went on Carol called home every rest stop and each day to see if her grandchild had been born.
And I believe that was Jamie.
We will miss her when club resumes in September.
Sympathy and prayers for you and the family.

Karen and Family,
Praying for you and your family. I miss Carol dearly. My fondest memories of her were your pool parties and going out to dinner.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Just know she is in heaven resting in the arms of Jesus.
Love,
Dawn

My sincere condolences Karen. I got to meet your Mom a few times. She was sweet, easy to talk with and I enjoyed her company. We will always miss our Mom’s but always remember all the good times, conversations and the love for each other.

My sincere condolences to Virginia Greiner’s family. I, and my brother, have been a long time friend of Karen, her daughter, and have had many conversations about her mom, and all the struggles concerning her health. No matter what age we are, it is very hard to lose a parent. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve.
