Virginia (Holl) “Gigi” Laubscher
May 4, 1929 - July 16, 2022
Virginia (Holl) Laubscher, known to all as Gigi, of Newark, DE, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the age of 93.
Born in Scranton, PA, on May 4, 1929, to Frank and Madeline Holl. Gigi and Dave married in 1948 and moved to Lock Haven, PA. Later, with the three children they moved to Delaware and were there for 20 years, then later moving to Maryland. After retirement Gigi and Dave moved to Alabama to enjoy the warmer weather. Gigi later spent many years living in both Alabama and Delaware, enjoying the warmer weather in the winter and spending holidays and summers in Delaware with her family.
While the children were young Gigi was a homemaker. She made the home warm and welcoming to family and friends alike. Friends of her children came and went enjoying the hospitality and they all loved Mrs. Laubscher.
Later she returned to the work force. She was employed at Diamond Chemical, Atlantic Aviation, and Standard Chlorine. Gigi was a life time member and Past President of VFW Auxiliary #7687 in Chesapeake City, MD. While living in Foley, AL she was also a member of The Red Hats Society and a regular church member.
Gigi And Dave enjoyed traveling in their trailer. She enjoyed sewing, reading, game shows, and had a wide and various collection of owls. She enjoyed people and loved her family. She had a listening ear, a ready smile and loved her tea.
Gigi was well cared for by the professional, warm and caring staff at Millcroft nursing facility the last several years of her life. Mike, Sue, Carol and extended family want to express their thanks to the many people for their constant and wonderful care of Mom.
Gigi was preceded in death by her husband, L. David Laubscher; sister, Judy (Joe); and brothers, Edward (Edna) and Robert. She is survived by her children, Mike Laubscher (Donna), Susan Seaver (Robbie), and Carol Finn (Richard); her three granddaughters, Tammy, Angela, and Sarah (Corey); seven great-grandchildren, JD, Robby, Brenda, Max, Madison, Alyssa and Connor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins by the dozens.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
