Virginia J. Schilling, age 86, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Schilling was born in Wilmington on February 20, 1927, daughter of the late Edward Sweeney and Tessie Witkowski Sweeney. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and had also been employed as a waitress at Marcozzi’s Restaurant for 30 years. Mrs. Schilling delighted in spending time with and taking care of her beloved family. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends, reading, and visiting Delaware Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton A. Schilling, Sr. and her son, Burton A. Schilling, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Hannah and husband Robert of New Castle; sisters, Terry Davis of Elkton, MD, and Dorothy Pedrick of Delaware; daughter-in-law, Joanne Schilling of New Castle; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
