Virginia (Jeannie) L. Truluck
Mrs. Virginia L. Truluck, known fondly as “Jeannie,” age 83, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012.
Mrs. Truluck was born in New Castle on July 24, 1928, daughter of the late Lewis D. Patterson and Sidney Irene (Carr) Leach. A talented homemaker, she devoted her life to caring for her beloved family.
Active in her community, Mrs. Truluck was a Life Member of the Delaware City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Delaware City Senior Center. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed gardening and creating all types of arts and crafts, as well as browsing for interesting items at garage sales and flea markets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. “Tex” Truluck, siblings, Lois Patterson and George Patterson, Sr., and grandson, Zachary S. Hartfield. She is survived by her children, George E. Costango of Crisfield, MD, Donna J. Smith (Victor) of Dover, Tony W. Costango of Millsboro, Robert C. Costango (C. Ivy) of Delaware City, Jeffrey S. Costango (Connie) of St. Georges, Susan T. Norris (Sam) of Smyrna, and John W. Truluck of Middletown; brother, Lewis D. Patterson (Mary June) of Delaware City; sister, Charlene A. Hendrix (John) of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, where visitation will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in Delaware City Cemetery.
