Vivian Beverly Jean “Slim” Murray

December 8, 1947 - September 8, 2019

Vivian Beverly Jean “Slim” Murray, age 71, of Townsend, DE, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Born in Jacksonville, NC on December 8, 1947, she was a daughter of Macy (Ezzell) Kirk and the late Albert Kirk, Jr.  Bev was educated in the Philadelphia Catholic school system. She devoted 38 years of service to the City of Philadelphia.  Bev was an extremely giving individual, who gave from her heart and always gave her straight forward advice.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many.

In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her brother, James Chasten.  She is survived by her children, Tawana Carroll (Troy), Jamil Murray and Alexas Pickron; siblings, Doris “Bit” Chasten, Albert Kirk III (Patricia), Diane Kirk, Michael Kirk, Sharon “Cougar” Murray (Gary), Sylvia Jones (Walter) and Stephen Kirk (Gail); grandchildren, Ariel Carroll, Ataarah Farris, Troy Carroll, Jr., Semaj Burroughs and Francesca “Frankie” Pickron; great granddaughter, Ashirah Farris; devoted and caring son-in-law, Troy Carroll; lifelong friend, Lucille Baker; close friend Pearl Robinson; special nephew, DJ; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and many dear friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 3 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 3 pm.  Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bev’s memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter, 101 Greenwood Avenue, Suite 200, Jenkintown, PA 19046.

She’s clothed in strength and dignity with her head up high

We’ll all cherish your memory in our own different ways…We feel you smiling and we’re smiling back…you will never be more than a thought away…you fought your best fight…you always found ways to give more and give more. Hey Bev your strength was remarkable…so many hearts have been touched you will be deeply missed. We understood that you were ready to finish this course…It’s ok…you will do well with him as you did with us. On Sept 8th an angel came her way and peacefully whispered it’s time to meet your maker!!!! May you rest in peace…love your family.
