Walter C. Meyer

Mr. Walter C. Meyer, known fondly as “Wally,” age 74, of Newark, DE, formerly of Flushing, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
A native of New York City, Wally was born on April 19, 1938, son of the late Walter Meyer and Sophia Puhalski Meyer. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, and, in civilian life, made his career as a weapons inspector for the federal government in Queens, NY, until his retirement.
Wally was a devout Catholic throughout his life and had been very active with the Knights of Columbus while living in New York. After relocating to Delaware 14 years ago, he became a member of Holy Family parish in Newark.
Among his many pastimes, Wally enjoyed all types of shopping and bargain hunting, shooting pool, trying his luck on slot machines during trips to Atlantic City, and dining out with his wife Nancy.
His beloved wife of 53 years, Anna “Nancy” Craddock Meyer, passed away in 2011. He is survived by his son, Walter F. Meyer and wife Christine of Farmingville, NY; daughter, Colleen M. Kearns and husband Michael of Newark, DE; sister, Alice Ramirez of Staten Island, NY; brother, James Meyer of North Plainfield, NJ; grandchildren, Donna, Kaitlin, Kristen, Tricia, and Kenny; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11:45 am on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Wally may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
