Mrs. Wanda Cecile Fisher, age 91, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2013.
Born in Wilmington, DE on May 19, 1921, Wanda was the daughter of the late Dennis Krajewski and Michalina Stanczak Krajewski. She later married the love of her life, John A. Fisher, Sr., whom she shared many happy years with until his passing in 2002. Wanda was a talented and dedicated homemaker, who delighted in caring for her family. She was especially proud of her Polish ancestry, and enjoyed baking and cooking dishes that showcased her heritage.
Wanda was a true people person. She had the unique ability to make anyone she was with – whether they were family, a friend, or a complete stranger- feel welcome and cared for. Wanda was glad to lend a hand or share a word of advice to anyone who needed it. In her leisure time, she loved reading and crocheting. Above all else, Wanda was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Frank, Anthony, John, and Henry Krajewski; sister, Helen Wojciechowski; and daughters, Charlotte Ennis and Elaine Clair. Wanda is survived by her son, John Fisher, Jr. and his wife, Diana of Middletown, DE; daughters, Janice Thrasher, and her husband, Charles of Newark, DE and Michele Casey, and her husband, Tom of Seaford, DE; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 10 am until the start of the service. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
