Wayne John Morschhauser

Wayne John Morschhauser, age 64, of Newark, DE, passed away in his home on Monday, February 7, 2022, from lung cancer. He was born on July 11, 1957 in Erie, PA to his parents DonnaLee and the late William J. Morschhauser.

Wayne graduated from HarborCreek High School (1975) and earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Penn State (1979). On June 12, 1982 he married his wife of nearly 40 years, Laurel J. Torresson, in Millbrook, NY. Wayne had worked as a software engineer for IBM Poughkeepsie for 34 years before retiring in Delaware in 2013. Wayne’s love of music and auto racing meant that in his free time you could often find him at a concert like ELP, or in the pits at a race track. A loyal Nittany Lion, Wayne was a frequent spectator at Penn State football games, and an active member of the MHV Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.

In addition to his wife, Laurel, he is survived by his children Eric Morschhauser (Merrylee) of Indiana, PA, Lisa Draper (Samuel) of Wilmington, DE, as well as his sister Denise Benim, his brother Scott Morschhauser (Elizabeth), and his grandchildren Lily, Ezra, Eli and Levi Morschhauser, and Laurie and Jack Draper.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
