William A. “Jabo” Cale, Jr.

May 2, 1950 - July 22, 2022

William A. “Jabo” Cale, Jr., age 72, of St. Georges, DE, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Born in Middletown, DE, on May 2, 1950, he was a son of the late William A. and Ruth (Loat) Cale. Jabo was a graduate of Middletown High School. He married Janet Henry on May 14, 1983 and from this union came two children, Juice and Sheena. He made his career as a chemist and he was a dedicated employee at Dupont for 46 years.

Jabo was a huge sports fan; his favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Dodgers. He loved traveling, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Jabo was a faithful member of a number of organizations including president of the MOT male choir, where he enjoyed singing gospel songs, and a member of Mt. Pisgah Church for a number of years. Most of all, William loved life and his family and cherished spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren. He looked forward to planning his family vacations and Sunday family dinners. You could always find Jabo laughing, talking stuff and cracking jokes. William enjoyed family game night and he proudly taught his daughter and grandchildren how to play poker. Weekend mornings, he loved playing his gospel music and cooking breakfast for his family. He was a family man and wonderful friend. Jabo loved his kids and grandkids more than anything.

In addition to his parents, Jabo was preceded in death by his lifetime partner and devoted friend, Janet “Netty” Cale; and brother, Michael Cale. He is survived by his loving children, William A. Cale III, and Sheena (Cale) Booker (Nakeem); siblings, Robert Cale (Emily), Gwendlynn Cale, Lucinda Cale, Patricia Cale, Pamela Todd, Sheryl Cale, Celeste Chandler, and Beverly Cale; aunts, Hilda Cale, and Barbara Young; grandchildren, Mya, Justice, Jahiem, and Chase; devoted friends, Douglas Watson, Lester Watson, and Glenn Henry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
