William A. Williams, Sr.

Mr. William A. Williams, Sr., known fondly as “Bill,” age 74, of Pocono Lake, PA, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, after a courageous eight-month battle with lung cancer.
Born in Wyoming, PA, on September 18, 1937, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Frederick Coarse Williams and Rosella May Morgan Williams. He made his career with the Chrysler Corporation, where he retired after 35 years of service.
An avid boater throughout his life, Mr. Williams greatly enjoyed fishing and vacationing at the beach. He also enjoyed spending time with his pet dog, Spunky, as well as skiing, traveling, and playing piano.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia E. Pietraccini Williams, son, William Williams, Jr., four sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Cynthia W. Battles (David Harper) of Chesapeake City, MD, Barbara Howe (John) of Vista, CA, Jody Williams (Andrea) of Newark, Eric Williams (Maryanne) of Wilmington, and Scott Williams of Millsboro; brother, Walter Williams of Glen Ridge, NJ; grandchildren, Johnny, Erin, Jesse, Casey, Katie, Lauren, Brittany, Anthony, and Elaine (Mike); and great grandchildren, Hanna, Billy, Lindsay, and Hunter.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark.
