William E. Thorp, Jr., age 68, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Billy was born in Wilmington on January 8, 1949, and was a son of William E. and Dorothy (Jordan) Thorp. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. An exceptional craftsman, Billy loved working with his hands and made his career as a general contractor. He was known for his strong work ethic and ability to repair or build anything.

An avid outdoorsman, Billy was a passionate hunter and enjoyed fishing. He adored spending time with his family and friends and was happiest in their company. Billy will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, William and Dorothy Thorp of Newark; children, Karla Coleman (Robert) of Newark and Kimberly Pedrick (Mark) of Brooklawn, NJ; fiancée, Patricia Cavanaugh of Milford; brother, Eric Thorp (Jayne Bower) of North East, MD; Dolly Gustafson (Paul) of Claymont, Joan Roberts (Douglas) of Pompano Beach, FL and Gail Rubin of Fort Lake, FL; grandchildren, Hayley, Kylie and Robert Coleman III and Christopher Pedrick.

Services and interment will be held privately.
