William James David, Jr.

Mr. William James David, Jr., age 91, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his home.
A native Delawarean, Mr. David was born in Wilmington on March 22, 1921, son of the late William James David, Sr. and Edna Elizabeth Wright. He proudly served his country in the US Army’s 98th Infantry during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii and Japan. In civilian life, he made his career with the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring as a car repairman after 42 years of service.
A keen philatelist, Mr. David was very proud of the large and interesting stamp collection he carefully maintained for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Alice David, in 1981, and by a brother, Ellwood James David, Sr. He is survived by siblings, Charles M. David, Ella Mae Chapman, Doris May Paola, and Martin L. David; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
