William “Willy” Wiggins

June 9, 1925 - November 21, 2020

William “Willy” Wiggins, age 95, of Middletown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

Born in Odessa, DE on June 9, 1925, he was the son of the late John Wesley Wiggins and Ida Lote. Willy attended Redding Middle School and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He devoted 20 years of service with New Castle County as a truck driver. Following retirement, Willy started his grass cutting business, Wiggins Lawn Care, where he made many friends. In his spare time, he liked playing cards, especially pinochle, with family, friends, and his best friend, James Blackson. Willy enjoyed riding around town in his Cadillac. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Willy was preceded in death by his children, Diane Henry, JoAnn Collins, Alvin Wiggins, Douglas Wiggins, and Donald Wiggins. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Laura LaVerne Thomas; children, Mary Ann Biddle, Kenneth Wiggins, Tyrell Thomas (Jennifer), Doris Wiggins, Tina Wiggins and Ursula Merkerison; brother, James Lote; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to assist with funeral expenses to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE 19709.
