Mrs. Winifred C. Byrne, age 73, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
Born in Lansdowne, PA, on August 14, 1939, Mrs. Byrne was the daughter of the late Rev. John A. Cragg and Marcia H. Beatty Cragg. She was a talented homemaker and had also been employed with Joanne Fabrics for many years.
Mrs. Byrne enjoyed many interesting hobbies throughout her life, including crocheting and solving challenging word puzzles. She also loved caring for the family’s many pet cats and dogs over the years. She was a loyal fan of Elvis Presley from her youth.
Most of all, Mrs. Byrne will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who delighted in spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly and deeply missed by the many people who loved her.
Her beloved husband, Thomas W. Byrne, passed away on February 15th of this year. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter J. Cragg and Donald A. Cragg, and a granddaughter, Kaylia.
She is survived by her children, Thomas W. Byrne, Jr. of Delaware City; Harriet D. Wessells and husband Andrew of Delaware City, and John D. Byrne and wife Brenda of New Castle; brother, Charles T. Cragg and wife Barbara of Lake Havasu, AZ; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at 1 pm in Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA.
