Jason David Baptiste - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jason David Baptiste

January 20, 1974 - June 12, 2023

Jason David Baptiste, age 49, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 12, 2023, exactly two months shy of his first wedding anniversary, with his loving family by his side. Jason valiantly fought a year and a half long battle against glioblastoma multiforme with the same tenacity, strength, and humor that he lived life.

Born in New Bedford, MA on January 20, 1974, he was the son of Sharon Lee (Bracken) Price and the late David Ernest Baptiste. Jason was an Electrician and worked at Continental Electrical Services.

A proud and devoted husband and father, Jason valued family above all else. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring his Uncle Owen’s 38-foot 1964 Hatteras, hanging out on D-Dock at the Charlestown Marina in North East, MD, and taking his family and friends out on the water. He could often be found fixing one thing or another, always lending his help and expertise to his family and friends. If Jason had more time, he would have spent it bonding with his son “Little Jason”, taking care of his mom, and hanging out with his cousins who were like sisters to him and friends who were like family. More than anything, he would have loved to have made his wife laugh one more time and spend time traveling with her.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, David; maternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Bracken; and paternal grandfather, Ernest Baptiste. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer (Barnes) Baptiste; son, Jason Baptiste; furry sons, Riley and Sailor; mother, Sharon; paternal grandmother and grandfather, Diane and Donald Lemonde; sister, Stephanie Botelho; loving in-laws, Roger and Evelyn Barnes; brother and sister-in-law and nephew, Eric, Jo Ann and Zachary Barnes; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason’s memory to the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Penn Medicine. Please make checks payable to “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania,” and mail to Penn Medicine Development, Attn: Sheryl Garton, 3535 Market St., Ste. 750, Philadelphia, PA  19104 or online by clicking here. • Jason was an Amazing Friend. I feel so overwhelmed with emotion. We only became friends during Covid. I had the clippers and he needed a haircut.
Well, he became special to myself through his Love of life. His perseverance and dedication to Family, Hard Work Ethic, His enthusiasm to better himself. Jason, was always willing to lend a hand to a friend.
