Linda Jean Manfre

October 7, 1952 - August 22, 2025

Linda Jean Manfre, age 72, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington on October 7, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Wesley Caleb and Esther Jean (Roberts) Henderson, Jr. Throughout Linda’s career, she worked at various jobs, never afraid to do something new. She ended her career as a sales supervisor at Hoboken Floors.

Linda was a lifelong member of Elkton Moose Lodge 851. She enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She loved watching them from her kitchen and while sitting on her back deck. She also enjoyed playing Café World online with people from around the world, some of which she became close friends with offline. She looked forward to visits to Kelly’s Tavern to enjoy crabs and good company. Linda had a passion for cooking, baking cookies with family at Christmas and would make any excuse to have family gatherings. She cherished the time spent with her beloved family.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Allan Henderson; and son-in-law, William “Buck” Cline Jr. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Joseph Charles Manfre; children, David Wayne Callis, Sr. (Karen Argoe), Dorothy Ann Cline and Kenneth Wesley Jones (Kelly); siblings, Cindy Lawson (John), Michael Henderson (Cassandra), Nancy Verucci, Wes Henderson III, Ray Henderson and Richie Henderson; grandchildren, Thomas (Amanda), David II (Whitney), Adam (Kiki), Ashley (Dalton), Ryan, Hannah and Zachary; great grandchildren, Gage, Colton, Troy, Gavin, EmmaJean and Georgia;  aunt, Mary McCready; uncle, Al Roberts; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her canine companion, Josie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin a 11:30 a.m.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • I was so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. We became friends online back in 2011. We enjoyed one another in messenger and going through my parents deaths, she was so good to me, praying and checking on me. She missed her own mom so much. We also played Cafe World game together for a few years too. She caught me by surprise always calling me, Babe. I was always so thankful for our friendship over the years. I will truly miss her. Fly high sweet lady, miss and love you!

  • Linda was someone that just had a kind ora surrounding her.
    She had remembered me when I was just a little girl (0-6 years of age), told me I look like my mother. I have not seen her since until last year. We share 4 siblings Nancy, Wes , Ray and Rich Henderson for her (same father) for me (same mother) but regardless she had her arms open in her own way to me (Accepting). We both agreed that regardless blood is blood 💯. She was just such a wonderful person to know and you were lucky to have her friendship in your life.
