Wally Gonzalez, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Born in Puerto Rico on June 12, 1951, he was a son of the late Erasmo Gonzalez and Amada (Rodriguez) Rivera. Wally worked for many years as an assistant store manager at Burlington, before retiring.
Wally was a strong man of faith. He was a praise and worship leader at his church. He loved to play the guitar. Wally also had a playful side to him; his sense of humor was one of his best qualities. He truly was a wonderful example of what it meant to be a great husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Fritci Gonzalez; children, Jacqueline Gonzalez- La Spada (Peter) and Wally Joel Gonzalez (Diane); grandchildren, Giovanni La Spada, Immanuel Joel La Spada, Mandie Gonzalez, Nysia Gonzalez, Aolani Magagna and Samantha Pasternak; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bolivar Gonzalez (Fiordaliza), Wilmer Gonzalez (Milly) and Elmer Gonzalez (Angela); his dogs, Fionna and Nina; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will begin at 6 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Casa De Restauración Siloé, 10 W. Hazeldell Avenue, New Castle, DE. A visitation will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
