Elrey Ronald Romano Velicaria, age 60, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Born in Mabini, Pangasinan, Philippines on September 17, 1965; Elrey was the beloved son of Rogelio Sr. and Luz (Romano) Velicaria.
He started his professional career in technology by attending the Mapua Institute of Technology for his undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering) and then obtained a Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence from Ateneo de Manila University. He was a professor of Information Technology and later, an accomplished Software Engineer.
His interests were not limited to science and innovation and he explored all of them to the fullest. He loved music and taught himself how to play the guitar and the piano. He enjoyed sports and was often up for a friendly game of chess, tennis and bowling. He considered himself a coffee connoisseur, always striving to prepare a perfect cup for his guests. Astronomy, photography, gardening and baking are other passions that he shared with his family and friends.
Above all these accomplishments in life, he is a child of God – bible based believer of Jesus Christ.
Elrey is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Andalecio Velicaria; two brothers: Anthony, Rogelio Jr.; five sisters: Cynthia, Jocelyn, Gladys, Miriam and Juliet; three brothers-in-law: Jack, Eric and Jaime; two sisters-in-law: Judith and Lizdel; three nephews: Miguel, Christian and Andre; four nieces: Arwen, Hazel, Sophia and Jasmine.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 4 pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 4 pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA, on October 11, 2025 at 9:00AM.
