Randall G. Smith Sr.
July 18, 1942 - January 18, 2026
Randall G. Smith Sr., age 83, of Newark, DE, died peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Born in Charleston, WV on July 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Madeline and Michael Melnick. Randall proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Germany. He made many sacrifices in his life but none greater than his service to this country. Randall made his career as an inspector at DuPont Co. in the Vesper division.
Randall was a classic car enthusiast, his prized possession being his bright yellow 1980 Corvette. He would pass the time singing his doo-whoop tunes and hitting up the casino. Randall was a proud scout master in the Boy Scouts of America with his son, Randall Jr. Later in life, he and his wife, Carol enjoyed spending their summers in their home by the beach where they would entertain their grandkids and loved ones. In the last year, Randall would spend his Sundays playing pool with his children, Dawn and Randy and winning. He will be sorely missed by his children and grandchildren, but they are elated of the idea that Randall and Carol are together again.
In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol D. Smith; and daughter-in-law, Darci Rice. He is survived by his son, Randall G. Smith Jr.; daughters, Shelly Bordley (George) and Dawn R. Smith; and loving grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, Kyle Kellner, Emily Bordley, Natalie Bordley, and Kelly Bordley.
A committal service will begin at 2 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Randall’s memory to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963.

I remember fondly the New Jersey/Delaware accents of my East Coast relatives!! They made it to many reunions in Oklahoma. Rest in peace, Randy.

Loved your parents. They showed us such a good time when we visited them. I will never forget their gracious hospitality. Amy was just a baby when Mike was stationed at Fort Bragg many years ago! Love to you all.
