Clarence D. "Frog" Reed - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Clarence D. “Frog” Reed

April 4, 1950 - February 5, 2026

Clarence D. “Frog” Reed, age 75, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Born in Dover, DE on April 4, 1950, he was a son of the late Clarence D. and Ann L. (Traverse) Reed.  He was a simple man with a big heart, a constant smile, and a gift for making friends wherever he went.  He loved his family deeply and took pride in a life built on hard work, loyalty, and joy.

Clarence was a man of many trades.  He was the owner and operator of Reed and Sons Trucking, Construction Superintendent, a dedicated farmer, and later retired from Southern States where he worked as a truck driver.  Even in retirement, Clarence stayed busy and connected to his community – most recently serving as the familiar and friendly “security guard” overlooking Blackbird Greenspring Road, where many came to know and appreciate his watchful presence.

An avid horse lover and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Clarence also knew how to have a good time.  He loved to dance and was truly the life of the party, especially at the annual Roosterfest held in honor of his son, Kendall.  No celebration felt complete without Clarence’s laughter and energy.

Clarence was a lifetime member of both the Middletown Moose Lodge and the Smyrna Moose Lodge, places where friendships flourished and memories were made.  You could always find him with a Mountain Dew in hand, ready to share a story, a laugh, or some friendly advice.

Family meant everything to Clarence.  He was always asking about his loved ones – especially his grandkids and even his “grand dogs”.  One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports, cheering them on with pride and love.

Above all, Clarence will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and his ever-present smile.  He was always there when someone needed advice, support, or simply a friendly face.  His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly.

Clarence D. Reed will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.

In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his son, Kendall W. Reed; and brothers, Larry W. Reed, and Jerry L. Reed. He is survived by his son, Bryan D. Reed (Jennifer); grandson, Jared D. Reed (Anna); granddaughter, Brianna L. Reed (Payne); siblings, Carol L. Eckler, Robert D. Reed, Sr. (Jennifer), and Ronnie J. Reed, Sr.; sister-in-law, Cathy L. Reed; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 pm until 2 pm on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 2 pm. Inurnment will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Caldwell Corner Road, Townsend, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clarence’s name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave, Ste 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814, or online by clicking here.
