C. Jerry Wascheck

C. Jerry Wascheck, age 91, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Born in Mt. Kisco, NY, on December 22, 1934, he was a son of A. Charles and Eleanor (Rosenberg) Wascheck. A proud graduate of Horace Greeley High School and Cornell University, where he received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Jerry made his career as chemical engineer and senior design consultant at DuPont Co. for 35 years until his retirement. He took great pride in designing plants that produced Nylon.

Jerry was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He also enjoyed world travel, was a military history buff, nature and animal lover and an active member of Bethany PCA. He was a former member of the Pike Creek Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors at the Western Branch YMCA. Jerry enjoyed reading, building models and was curious about everything.

Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather uncle and cherished friend. His warmth, dedication and joyful spirit touched all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. (Webb) Wascheck; and daughter-in-law, Patti (Stevens) Wascheck. He is survived by his children, Michael Wascheck, Kenneth Wascheck (Kelly), Sheila Ellis (Dave), and Gail Breed (Alf); sister, Dian Badey; grandchildren, Catie Chinn, Alex Wascheck, Megan Wascheck, Thaddeus Wascheck, Marshall Wascheck, Nathaniel Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Carleigh Ellis, Hannah Breed, and Emily Breed; great-granddaughter, Ivy Chinn; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 noon on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Lower Brandywine Cemetery, 101 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington, DE.

  • My memory of Uncle Jerry is as a kind, smart, level-headed person who was fascinated by learning new things. My condolences everyone. I wish you well in your time of mourning.

  • We enjoyed Jerry’s friendship over the past half dozen years at Ware Presbyterian Village, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, and where he most recently lived at the Health Center. He was a cheerful and stimulating conversationalist, and an encouraging person, and we miss him. We pray for God’s comfort for his family and friends.
