Edna Jean Hawkins, age 91, of Middletown, DE, passed away at home on Saturday, June 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Kilsyth, WV, on August 23, 1934, she was a daughter of the late William and Thelma (Raines) Boyd. Jean grew up in and was very proud of being from West Virginia.  She made her career as a nurse’s aide and clinical technician at Ophthalmology Associates in Wilmington, DE, for over 20 years until her retirement.

Jean enjoyed traveling.  She was an avid walker who appreciated the simple beauty of nature and peace that came with every step.  Jean also loved listening to country and christian music.  Above all else, Jean cherished her family and every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her children, Kenneth Brooks, Harold Brooks, Carol Jensen, and Cheryl Davis; and sisters, Betty Lee Boyd, Mary Alice Carpenter, Barbara Ann Craddock, and Carolyn Sue Brooks. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, David W. Hawkins; children, Denise Guthrie (Mark), Sarah Miduski (Shannon), Beth Perry (Jeff), Stephanie Spina, and Nancy Neide; sister, Connie Cox; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Praise Assembly, 1421 South Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
