Rita Morris
September 15, 1949 - July 29, 2026
Rita Morris, beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Newark, Delaware. She was born on September 15, 1949, in Greenville, Maine, to the late Albert and Louise Teabault.
Rita was best known for always putting others before herself. She had a generous heart and a genuine concern for the people around her. She was very proud of her family and cherished the many friendships she made throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her siblings, Harvey and Connie Teabault. She is survived by her husband, Russell Morris; her two sons, Glenn Pelletier and Wayne Pelletier and his wife, Julie; her stepdaughter, Christina Morris; and her step-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Amanda, and Ethan; close family friends, Louise Maheux and her brother, Albert and their families. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Rita worked at Pratt & Whitney and Wearguard. She loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Mescha. Rita enjoyed being a snowbird, spending her winters in Florida and her summers in Virginia and/or Delaware. Wherever she lived, she made friends and became part of the community.
Rita enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, including clamming, crabbing, fishing, sewing, reading, listening to country music, and solving Sudoku puzzles. She would readily admit that she was “frugal to a fault,” but that same determination and practicality were part of what made her who she was. Once Rita made up her mind to do something, there was very little that could stop her.
Rita and Russ also spent many years working together on the rental properties they owned. They shared not only their life together, but also their faith and their desire to serve others through the ministry of the church, including New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Delaware and a church in Florida.
Above all, Rita was a committed disciple of Christ. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she served the God she loved in both word and deed. While her family and friends grieve her loss, they take comfort in knowing that Rita is no longer suffering and is now in heaven with the God she loved and served.
Rita will be remembered for her selfless spirit, her determination, her love for her family and animals, her faith, and the many lives she touched along the way. She will be deeply missed by her family and by the many friends she made throughout her life. One of the things Russ remembers most fondly is the fact that they held hands every night before going to sleep. Their love and support for each other was quite evident.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. After her committal, there will be a light luncheon at her church – New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1125 Jamison Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19709.
Memorial contributions may be made to this church in her memory.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. When I first met her on an interview back in June of 1989 for WearGuard, her laugh was contagious! I worked at a different location for awhile but eventually came to the Kirkwood Hwy store. She gave me all her knowledge of the business and was a valued friend as well. She talked to me like a son, and always gave me advise on my personal life even if I didn’t want to hear it at that time. She was truly an amazing woman.
