Albert J. “Al” Canigiani
March 23, 1933 - September 7, 2026
Albert J. “Al” Canigiani, age 93, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of Northport, Long Island, NY, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Born in Johnstown, PA, on March 23, 1933, he was a son of the late John and Italia (Traversare) Canigiani. Al proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, earning his bachelor’s degree. Al then made his career as the vice president of auditing at Catholic Medical Center in Queens, NY, for 29 years until his retirement in 1994.
Al enjoyed spending his free time in nature, he loved to go hiking and bicycling as often as possible. An avid traveler, he always looked forward to his next adventure.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his siblings, Goffredo Canigiani and Ermalinda Imgrund. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia (Lawlor) Canigiani; sons, Glenn Canigiani (Jackie) and Gregg Canigiani (Gina); sister, Ada Szewczyk; and grandchildren, Julia and Joanna.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
