Joseph J. Yeager, Jr.

March 7, 1952 - September 29, 2026

Joseph J. Yeager, Jr., 74, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Born in Williamstown, NJ, on March 7, 1952, Joe was the son of the late Helen M. (Walker) and Joseph J. Yeager, Sr. Joe graduated from Christiana High School and, shortly after, began what would become a lifelong career with General Motors. He dedicated more than 35 years to the company before retiring.

Joe enjoyed the everyday pleasures of life and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, fishing, boating, and playing horseshoes. For many years, Joe also served as a Scoutmaster and Little League Coach, sharing his time, knowledge, and love of the outdoors with the young people in his community. A devoted sports fan, he proudly cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. However, of all the things Joe enjoyed in life, nothing meant more to him than his family. He was a dedicated provider, steadfast husband, and nurturing father who held his family close to his heart and put them above all else.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas A. and Charles P. Yeager. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia A. (Bove) Yeager; children, Joseph Yeager III (Candra) and Katie Bellafore (Joe); brothers, Roger R. (Gretchen), Paul S. (Susan), Daniel C. (Bernadette), Gregory T. (Janice), and Francis J. Yeager (Susan); sister, Theresa H. Dempsey (Jack, Jr.); and grandchildren, Joey, Luca, Dominic, Franco, Gianni Bellafore, with another due in October.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately.
