Jacquelin Louise (Oakley) McIntyre - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jacquelin Louise (Oakley) McIntyre

September 4, 1958 - October 4, 2026

Jacquelin Louise (Oakley) McIntyre, age 68, of Smyrna, DE, left this earth unexpectedly on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, surrounded by her loving families.

Jackie was the daughter of Joan Moritz Oakley of Harrington, Delaware and the late Carol Presson. Jackie retired with over 30 years at the State of Delaware, finally retiring from the Delaware State Housing Authority. Her attention to detail reflected in everything in which she was involved.

On April 17, 1999, Jackie married the love of her life, Mark A. McIntyre. Together, Jackie and Mark built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. Over the years, they made two special homes together, one in Delaware and another in West Virginia. Both homes held countless memories and reflected the life they built side by side.

In 2013, their two-and-a-half-year-old great-nephew came to live with Jackie and Mark. From that moment on, Jackie embraced him with all the love a mother could give. She raised him, guided him, and provided him with a loving and supportive home. She was not only his great-aunt, but a mother, caregiver, role model, and one of the most important people in his life. The bond they shared was truly special and will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Jackie was a loving and devoted aunt who held a special place in the hearts of her family. Her dedication to her family was one of the many things that made her so special. She made it a priority to be present in the lives of her nieces and nephews, often taking trips to visit them and creating special memories along the way. Jackie was always there to support her nieces and nephews in their interests, activities, and accomplishments. Whether she was traveling to see them, cheering them on, or simply spending time together, she made sure her family knew how much they were loved. Her unconditional support and presence created a lasting bond with each of them that they will carry with them forever.

Jackie was an active member of the Masonic Family. Starting with The International Order of Jobs Daughters Bethal #7 and eventually Bethel Guardian and Grand Guardian Council, where she received the highest degree obtainable; The Degree of Royal Purple. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Victory Chapter #7. Alongside her husband Mark, they stayed active with the Brandywine Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon #20 and Cedarettes, where they organize events and raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. Jackie unselfishly and wholeheartedly gave all her time and resources to others.

Jackie had many talents, from singing, sewing, cooking/baking, and crafting of many kinds. She was known for updating family and friends annually with her Christmas newsletter outlining her yearly events with words and photos, which everyone looked forward to receiving; showering friends, family, doctor, and neighbors with Christmas cookies.

Jackie’s love extended far beyond words. She was someone her family could depend on, and the memories she created with those she loved will continue to be treasured for years to come. Her presence brought love and warmth to her family, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her family and especially through the lives she touched and helped shape.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Carol Presson Oakley; sister, Joni Oakley Weimer; father and mother-in-law, Clarence H. McIntyre Jr. and Betty McIntyre Ferriola; sister-in-law, Gae Dawn Baker; and great nephew, Robert Daniel Baker. She is survived by husband of 27 years, Mark A. McIntyre; son, Maddix Powell; mother, Joan Moritz Oakley; sisters, Joy Oakley Spicer (Brad), Jill Oakley Smith (Wayne), and Joyce Oakley (Joe); sister-in-law, Lori Powell; step father-in-law, Frank Ferriola; brother-in-law, Sydney Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jackie’s memory to Tall Cedars of Lebanon, MDA fund, P.O. Box 208, Townsend, DE 19734.

21 Condolences for Jacquelin Louise (Oakley) McIntyre

  • Jackie was such a special lady. We remember their wedding day and how very happy she made Mark. Maddix brought her so much joy and although her life was much too short, it’s a blessing she got to see the fine young man he became. She was such a gracious hostess when we all came to their home in Moorefield. We all loved her dearly and she will be missed.

  • Mark, I am so sorry for your loss. I’ll be by soon.

  • I was so sad to learn of Jackie’s passing .We have known Mark and Jackie for Many years, they were wonderful friends to us. We would go to the movies together , out to dinner and they cooked for us in both homes many times . They were my grandparents neighbors and we live in wv so we often got to see them when they came . When my aunt was sick with breast cancer Jackie wanted to cook us dinner and we were all in her kitchen when we got the call that my aunt had passed , Jackie cried right along with us and after we hardly ate . Jackie was full of compassion and love for others . You didn’t even have to ask, her and mark just were there when you needed anything. I will miss her and my heart is with Mark , Maddox , and her family . I know she loved you all very much . I’m grateful for the time I was able to spend with her and mark . Jackie was truly a remarkable person and I know she touched many of our lives . Love you Jackie , you will be missed ❤️

  • I have known Aunt Jackie all my life and I’ve always known her as a pure soul. She’s always had the brightest smile when I would see her at family get-togethers.

I still remember her wedding day (I was 5) to my Uncle Mark and dancing at the reception and me thinking to myself that it was the most fun experience of my life and when I was going through my artist phase when I had a folder of “drawing pappers” (I didn’t know how to spell “papers” when I was younger, glad I know how to spell it now…haha) and when she came up to me and asked what folder I had, I showed her and she read it out loud and then she asked me “What are drawing pappers?” I said, “Noooooo, it’s drawing PAPERS.” She said “Oh okay!” (I was a young kid so I didn’t really know at the time). I also always remember going to her house almost every year, hanging out with family, watching cartoons in their basement, playing outside with my cousins. It was one of the better moments in my life.

Still knowing that she had left this Earth has left a void in our family that can never be filled. I am still in shock and am heartbroken on how this happened. Aunt Jackie, you were loved and cherished by this family and we will go the rest of our lives missing you. Heaven gained another angel. Please say hi to Aunt Joni and PopPop for me. Please rest easy. We love you to pieces.
