Aida Argain
December 6, 1930 - May 26, 2026
Aida Argain, lovingly known to her family as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on December 6, 1930, in Camaguey Cuba, Aida’s life was defined by courage, resilience, and deep love for her family. In 1960, alongside her beloved husband, Pascual Argain, she made the brave decision to leave behind everything they owned in Cuba to pursue a better future in the United States. With their three young children, they began a new life in Wilmington, Delaware, where through hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment, they built a lasting legacy.
Aida was a woman of quiet strength and grace, whose greatest joy came from her family. She created a home filled with warmth, love, and tradition, nurturing not only her children but generations that followed.
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Pascual Argain; her sister, Raquel (Gispert) Pijuan; and her brothers, Ignacio and Jose Gispert.
She is survived by her four children: Pascual I. Argain; Annmarie Merena and her husband Albert Merena; Mary Scotolati and her husband Guy Scotolati; and Alexander Argain and his wife Theresa Barzano. Aida’s legacy continues through many grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Aida will be remembered for her strength, her sacrifices, and the enduring love she gave so freely. Her journey from Cuba to the United States stands as a testament to her resilience and devotion to her family’s future.
A celebration of life will be held in the Fall in Ocean City, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aida’s name to the National Shrine of Saint Jude, make the check payable to St. Jude League, 205 West Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606, or online by clicking here.

So very sorry to learn of the passing of your Mother. Her story of leaving everything and everyone behind in Cuba and coming to the United States with her husband and three small children is a story of courage, resilence and most of all love for her family. She lived to enjoy seeing the smiling faces of her children as they grew up and became parents of their own and her grandchildren growing up and becoming parent of their own. What a legacy. What a remarkable woman. Heaven gained an angel who will help you along the days ahead. Elaine and Russ Allen
