Albert Richard Churchill, Sr.
May 22, 1948 - January 13, 2026
Albert Richard Churchill, Sr., age 77, of Townsend, DE, left the Earthly world on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Born in Whitham, MA on May 22, 1948, he was a son of the late Albert Churchill and Martha Evans. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, William and Raymond; cousin, Mark Evans; and best friend, Stanley Kramarck. He leaves behind his son, Albert “Albie” Churchill, Jr.; daughters, Heather Hill and Nicole Churchill; bonus children, Matthew, Mark and Darcy Mitchell; 3 grandsons; 5 granddaughters; as well as countless nieces and nephews and friends.
Albert, or Big Al as he was known to many, served our country in the US Navy from 1968-1972 following his brothers and uncle. After being injured as the commander’s driver, a position he talked often about, he worked as an electrician by trade, which is what he trained for in the US Navy. Up until his last days he could tell you about different places he worked throughout Delaware. For over 30 years, he worked as an owner operator for moving companies until his retirement in 2016 from Allied Van Lines. He took pride in being a “Careful Mover” many times throughout his career. His work as a mover took him all over the US, one of his most frequented states was Texas. We would joke and say his truck could drive itself there. Big Al will be missed by many, but his love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
The family welcomes Big Al’s family and friends to a Celebration for Al at the VFW post 3792, located at 5695 Summit Bridge Road, Townsend, DE 19734 on January 24, 2026 at 12 pm.

Al was not only a good brother-in-law but also a good friend in time of need. His kindness will be missed in this world but the thought of Martha having her hands full once again with her 3 boys in heaven makes me chuckle.
