Alberta Vesteria “Bert” Walker

Alberta Vesteria “Bert” Walker, age 76, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Born in Middletown, Delaware on January 3, 1949, she was the fifth child of the late Rose Anna (Jones) Walker and Lee Llewellyn Walker, Sr. Alberta attended Louis L. Redding Comprehensive School and later enrolled in Job Corp. in Wilmington, Delaware. Through Job Corp., she was stationed in Kansas City, Kansas where she continued her training and development.
Upon returning to Delaware, she dedicated herself to her family and community, always offering a helping hand and words of encouragement to those in need. Alberta was known for her kindness, her quiet strength, and her unwavering commitment to caring for others.
She found great pleasure in crocheting, drawing, listening to music, and watching television. Her face would light up whenever her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren visited. Alberta found joy in attending Ringgold Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she gave her life to Christ in 2023, and listening to the scriptures.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by her brothers, George Berry Sr., Luther Lee Walker Jr., Earl E. Walker Sr., and James A. Walker Sr.; sister, Virginia M. Beecher; brothers-in-law, Joseph Beecher and Devon M. Todd; and sister-in-law, Alice M. Walker. She is survived by her children, Wayne Jenkins, Robert Walker Sr. (Terry), John Walker (Ella), and Shionlaia Walters (Jameel); 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Ardie Todd; sisters-in-law, Mae Berry and Leola Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
