Alcide S. “Al” Mann, Jr.

Alcide S. “Al” Mann, Jr., age 83, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Al was born in 1943 in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Alcide and Frances Mann. He graduated from Tulane University, and his love of reading and research followed him through the rest of his life. Al proudly served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As a civilian, he undertook diverse employment opportunities across multiple states, while also earning his MBA and attaining many industry certifications.

Al is survived by his wife Audrey, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage, as well as his sons, Alcide S. Mann III (Robin) and James (Suzanne); two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Bruce Mann; and his daughter, Melissa.

The family would like to thank the staff at Complete Care Brackenville and all of his healthcare providers for their compassionate care towards Al during the past few years.

Funeral services will be private.
