Alice Faye Petitt

June 19, 1946 - June 28, 2024

Alice Faye Petitt, age 78, of Middletown, DE, passed away in her home peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Born in Arista Mountain, WV, on June 19, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Ruey and Rose (Newberry) Cordell. Alice was a selfless, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.  She loved hard and was fearless.  She was a successful businesswoman, working 32 years at General Motors as the Manager of Communications before retiring in 2008.  She worked hard and played hard, enjoying numerous vacations (especially cruises) and making memories with family and friends. Alice enjoyed making ceramics and making brownies and banana nut bread for her grandkids.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Petitt, whom she met on a blind date when they both lived in Wisconsin, prior to moving to Delaware.  Alice’s loving family consists of her only surviving sister, Shirley Carpenter, two daughters, Kathy De Angelis and Sherry MacBury (Kris), a step-son, Bret Adam (Jennifer), fourteen grandchildren, Heather Wise, Tyler Rhoades (Jeff), Bailey Adam, Taylor Adam, Shanette Graham, Juan Jose Gross, Miguel Gross, Cesar Gross, Christopher Gross, Norah Gross, Joey Diviny, Luisa Gross, Kateri Diviny and Kieran Diviny as well as five great grandchildren, Lucas Wise, Tenlea “Dani” Rothwell, SJ Rothwell, Ava Rhoades and Jeanette Waters.

She will forever be remembered for her enormous heart, selflessly taking care of others, her listening ear, her amazing hugs and her ability to have a meticulous home while working a demanding job, raising children and making delicious home cooked meals every night.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately. Following services, a repast will be held for family and friends at Alice and Bob’s home in Middletown, DE.
