Allen Gregory “Greg” Bass
September 13, 1963 - December 19, 2025
Allen Gregory “Greg” Bass, age 62, of Middletown, DE, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 13, 1963, he was the son of Jennifer H. (Cooper) Bass and the late Willard Joseph Bass, Sr. Greg was ambitious at a young age and began detailing cars. He eventually worked his way up to become a talented and sought after automotive paint technician and finisher. Greg was employed for many years with Porter Chevrolet and Winner Ford Automotive Groups. He was known as one of the best at his trade. Greg later finished his working years at Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School.
Greg was a kind and giving man. There was always a cake or something sweet offered when visiting his home. Greg was very proud, he insisted on being in control of his own destiny. He was charitable and helpful anytime he saw a need he was happy to help. Greg wanted to leave a mark on homes of those he cared about. He was generous with his time, planting flowers that would bloom every year in various yards. Greg was always jumping in to assist others with home improvement projects and painting was his favorite thing. He was happiest landscaping his own yard and cutting the grass with precision. Greg also fostered many cats and loved everyone of them and they knew it. He was a great ballplayer in his younger years; the Bass family was very involved with the Brookside Little League. In the spring, the Bass family will plant a tree at the baseball field in his honor.
Greg is survived by his loving mother, Jennifer Bass; older brother and friend, Joseph W. Bass, Jr. (Cathy Maloney Bass); nephews, Robbie Joe Bass and Steven Singleton; and partner and friend, Edith Wilson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A graveside service will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, 2839 DuPont Parkway, Middletown, DE 19709.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greg’s memory to a cat rescue of the donor’s choice.

Greg was one of the nicest guys I know, a very good friend to Brian and me. He helped us a few times and when I was going through cancer treatments myself he was over here planting flowers for me, such a great guy, such a loss of a great person.
Rosanne & Eddie Hickey
Greg was a good friend of ours. He helped paint our basement when we bought our first house, painted our sons first car and painted our front door. We went to see Nascar in Dover when Dale Earnhart Sr. Won. Eddie and Greg painted a Ford Thunderbird as a favor to my friend on weekends. Eddie spent many nights after work with Greg at his parents home on Porter Road. Not long ago he stopped at our house and we chatted for an hour or so. He stood for us at our wedding and golfed with Eddie a lot.
With sincere gratitude for all the time spent together and for all of your family you are missed.
