Alma Elizabeth (Barton) Tassell

July 8, 1931 - October 18, 2025

We sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother, Alma Elizabeth (Barton) Tassell, on Saturday, October 18, 2025, who was 94 years old.

Born in McConnellsburg, PA, on July 8, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Warren W. and Velma F. (Butterbaugh) Barton. Alma worked at the University of Delaware’s Student Health Services, retiring after 15 years of service. She was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Alma leaves behind her two devoted daughters, Ivy Benson (Bruce) and Holly Jackson; along with her treasured granddaughters, Ashley Tyczkowski (Ed) and Erica Carey (Patrick); as well as six great-grandchildren, Andrew (Kaitlyn), Amber, Elena, Madison, Alexandra, and Vivienne Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Tassell; son, James Taylor Tassell; and grandson, Andrew John Benson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until 2 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Services and inurnment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alma’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
