Ann Marie (Gebhart) Witt - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Ann Marie (Gebhart) Witt

December 18, 1935 - July 5, 2021

Ann Marie (Gebhart) Witt, age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 5, 2021.

Born in New Castle, DE in 1935, Ann was the daughter of the late William (Woody) and Veronica (Bonnie) Freebery Gebhart.

She grew up on Cherry St in New Castle and remained a lifelong resident. She attended St Peter’s, shortly after she married the love of her life David Witt.  They raised 5 children together.  Ann was a loving, nurturing mother, a meticulous housekeeper, great cook and baker.  Everyone that met her loved her and she welcomed all into her home.  In the early 80’s, Ann and Dave bought a beach trailer in Long Neck, DE.  Many great family memories were made there.  She loved the beach and loved to dance! As soon as the music came on her toes started tapping.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, David Witt; 4 sons, Michael (Mickey), William (Wootsie), Harry (Hank), David Sr. (Davey); siblings, Sis Davis, William, and Ronald Gebhart; and her beloved Yorkie, Whitney.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ann Denney; daughter-in-law, Barbara Witt; sister-in-law, Ruth Mercer; grandchildren, Susan Daugherty (Mike), Stacey Witt, Robert Denney (Alicia), David Witt Jr., Michael Denney, and Justin Witt (Tara); great-grandchildren, Shaina Spears (Cole), Robert Denney, Michael Daugherty Jr., Kayla Chaney, Marion Witt, and Oliver Witt.

Shaina (her full-time devoted caregiver) organized a wonderful family reunion with all of her survivors attending just before Jesus called her home.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will be held at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the CDC and Governor of Delaware. Interment will be private.
