Ann Marie “Nancy” Schmidt

Ann Marie “Nancy” Schmidt, age 89, of Bear, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Born in Colwyn, PA on November 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Anna (Hissner) Lawler.
Nancy was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, and proud mother. She spent her life raising and caring for her family with boundless love and dedication. Her four-legged companions, Peek-A-Boo, her cherished dog, and Ralphie, her beloved kitty, brought her much happiness and comfort. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
A true fan of Philadelphia sports, Nancy could always be found cheering on her beloved Philly teams. She also found joy in watching game shows, with a special fondness for The Match Game.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Edward R. Schmidt, and siblings, Patricia and George Lawler. She will be dearly missed by her children, Debra Ryan (Jim) and Robert Schmidt (Gabby); grandchildren, Michael and David Schmidt, Crystal Farren, and Michael and Caitlin Ryan; great granddaughter, Jalynn Farren; brother, James Lawler (Florence); sister-in-law, MaryJo Lawler; and many nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Interment will follow in the adjacent cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Delaware, 630 Churchmans Road, Ste. 202, Newark, DE 19702.
