Barry Robert Smith, age 59, of Cecilton, MD, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Born in Ridgewood, NJ on August 23, 1966, he was the son of the late Robert Charles and Sheila (Crawford) Smith. Barry made his career as a plumber and HVAC technician for the State of Delaware until his retirement.

A true outdoorsman, Barry loved spending his free time in nature. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing, and looked forward to taking his family camping. Barry relished every opportunity to relax at the beach. He also could often be found taking his motorcycle out for a ride. Barry was a talented handyman that tried to fix everything himself. Barry will always be remembered as a loving husband and proud father.

In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lynn (Combs) Smith. He is survived by his sons, Jake C. Smith (Nicole Hinkle) of Newark and Josh C. Smith of New York, NY; sisters, Pam Unruh of Florida and Becky Smith of Townsend; and canine companion, Lila.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Caldwell Corner Road, Townsend, DE.

  • Was so sorry to hear about Barryโ€™s passing. I knew Barry from working in the Christina School District. He definitely was one of the nicest guys. Always there for you. There is no doubt he will be missed by so many who knew him.
