Bernice M. Wright, age 96, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Born in Denver, CO on March 22, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Margarite (White) Kuersten. Bernice worked as a cafeteria baker at Red Clay School District until her retirement.

Bernice spent much of her free time solving crossword puzzles, doing word searches, and reading Danielle Steel novels. She especially treasured her collection of elephant figurines. Bernice enjoyed spending an afternoon shopping and always visited her favorite store, Talbots. She loved traveling back to Colorado to visit her hometown and cherished the memories she made while she was there.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Wright; and son-in-law, John E. Muller. She is survived by her children, D. Edward Wright (Agnes), Bruce R. Wright (Linda), Cheryl E. Muller, and Donald P. Wright; siblings, Fred Kuersten (Linda), Dorothy Hinde, and Vera Troxler; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for family and friends will begin at 12:30 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A committal service will follow in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
