Bertha C. “Cathy” Case
June 10, 1942 - January 11, 2021
Bertha C. “Cathy” Case, age 78, of Salisbury, MD, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021, the same day as her husband, Allan Louis “Butch” Case.
Born in Wilmington, DE on June 10, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred (Cottingham) Ingram. Cathy was a server at the lunch counter at Woolworth’s in Price’s Corner, where she met her future husband. She made her career as a hairdresser for several local barber shops over a 40-year period.
Cathy was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and VFW Meuse Post #194, both in Salisbury, MD. She treasured her visits to the Ocean City boardwalk and Assateague Island with her husband. An avid boater, Cathy was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Other interests included crocheting, fishing, and bingo. Most of all she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and children.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlotte Canady and Richard Ingram. She is survived by her children, Billy David (Dezaree Canavin) and Tina M. Case, both of Elkton, MD; siblings, William Ingram and Patricia Riley, both of Wilmington; grandchildren, Merriah (Bobbi), Ashley, Michael, Anthony, Brandy (William), Katie, and Megan; and great grandchildren, Jacoby and Aiden.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Services and interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cathy’s memory to Veterans of Foreign Wars at heroes.vfw.org or by mailing a check to VFW, Processing Center, P.O. Box 8958, Topeka, KS 66608.

I know your free from pain, free from tubes and wires, and hope you have a seat waiting for you at the bingo table with endless cards. Tina, I am so very sorry to hear Alan and Cathy passing …. at the same time …. due to Covid.
I met them in 2012 when they found me and bought their home. Even though I moved away 4 years ago we still exchanged cards over the holidays. I had such a great fondness for your parents and at a complete loss for words.
