Betty A. Wendell - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Betty A. Wendell

June 5, 1931 - October 26, 2019

Betty A. Wendell, age 88, of Newark DE, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Betty was born on June 5th, 1931 in Lewes, DE to the late William and Amanda Polite. On March 28, 1948 she married Charles Wendell, and they raised two sons, Charles and John. She was a loving mom and grandmother, and a devoted Christian who led by example. She had a wonderful sense of humor and her smile would light up a room. She loved to cook large meals and entertain at her house. She enjoyed traveling the world, and was always very interested in history. When her grandkids were younger, she loved to babysit them, and as they grew older she would regularly enjoy watching them play sports, perform in shows, or sing at concerts. She also had a passion for singing and music, and often when the family came together they would find themselves singing songs for their Nanny!

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Charles and two grandkids. She is survived by her sons, Charles (Laurie) and John; sister, Lilly Kennedy; brother, Jay Polite; 6 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at The Barn Vineyard Church, 3224 Appleton Road, Landenberg, PA, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am.  Interment will be held privately in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to Happy Life Children’s Home, 140 Airport Road, New Castle, DE 19720 or www.happylifechildrenshome.com.
