Brenda F. (Riggs) Moore

May 22, 1950 - December 24, 2022

Brenda F. (Riggs) Moore, age 72, of Bear, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, after fighting a long and courageous battle against Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.

Born in Beckley, WV on May 22, 1950, she was a daughter of the late James I. and Rosa L. (Street) Riggs. Brenda was a payroll administrator in the accounting department of Delmarva Power. She retired in 2010 after 41 years of dedicated service.

She will be remembered as a devoted and forever loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend to so many people. As a woman of faith and an active member of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Brenda enjoyed participating in the Friends of St Margaret Senior Group. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always attending her children’s and grandsons’ school and sporting events. Brenda was never one to miss a family event or milestone. She was a passionate baseball fan, supporting the Wilmington Blue Rocks and her beloved Philadelphia Phillies. Her Sunday afternoons were spent cheering them on, either at home or at Citizens Bank Park. Brenda was a lifetime fan of daytime soap operas and enjoyed watching them with her four-legged companion Posey. She loved to go on family vacations and sailed on many cruises with a great group of lifelong friends.  Throughout retirement, she always enjoyed getting together with her “Delmarva Girls.”

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas D. Riggs. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Christopher A. Moore; loving children, Kate E. Moore-Nigg (Tony) of Newark, DE and Adam C. Moore (Nicole) of Bear, DE; grandsons, Matthew J. Kumar and Jacob R. Greenwood; siblings, James D. Riggs (Grace) of Sorrento, FL and Barbara Riggs of New Castle, DE; sister-in-law, Rebecca E. Nelson of Stephens City, VA; nieces and nephews, Michael Riggs, Jamie Senn, Devon Katzmire, Elizabeth Sorg, Daniel Clowser, and Joshua Clowser; and many great nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 12 pm on Monday, January 2, 2023, at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery.
