Brenda “Kay” Laws, age 74, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021 with her loving husband, John, of 57 years, and daughter, Sharon, by her side.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, on June 11, 1946, she was a daughter of the late John G. Eustace and Ruth (Stallard) Newlin. Kay’s family relocated to Tampa, FL where she attended school before her family moved once more to DE. She was employed by Acme for a few years and worked other short-term jobs, including residential cleaning.
Kay was a snow bird for many years, usually spending 6 months out of the year in Florida. While there, she made many friends and looked forward to her weekly luncheons with them in St. Petersburg. Day trips to Fort De Soto and John’s Pass were always an enjoyable day for her. Kay also enjoyed visits to Clearwater Marina and to many of the local restaurants. In her spare time, she loved to watch cooking shows.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her son, John Laws, Jr. and her brothers, John and Dan Eustace. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, John; daughter, Sharon Meador (Robby); granddaughter, Amanda Klinger (Bruce); grandson, Michael Terrell; great granddaughters Laney and Sadie; sister, Diane Helton; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Emerson, Joyce Sturdavant, Ruth Hess; and brother-in-law, Raymond Laws.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. George’s Cemetery. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kay’s memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Second Floor, Newark, DE 19711 or Christ the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
