Bruce E. Hunter, Sr.
March 21, 1948 - August 30, 2023
Bruce E. Hunter, Sr., age 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Born in Wilmington, DE on March 21, 1948, he was a son of the late John A. and Dorothy (Haymen) Hunter. Bruce proudly served two tours in Vietnam with the United States Army from 1967 – 1969. After growing up in Collins Park, Bruce settled down in Holloway Terrace after returning home from war. He was a dedicated truck driver, hauling materials for several industries throughout his career.
Bruce was an avid car enthusiast; he found joy in attending many local car shows. He shared his passion of cars with his brother, nephew, and great-nephew, often visiting Milford to talk cars and check out all of the projects they were working on at the time. Most importantly, Bruce cherished time spent making memories with his family.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy (Cissy) Romano. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joy; siblings, John Hunter (Sharon) and Jeanette Sowers (Fred); brother-in-law, Wayne Romano; children, Bruce E. Hunter, Jr. (Kerri), Carmen Hunter (Sharon) and Casey Hunter (Olya); grandchildren, Zachary (Kelci), Nikolas, Jeremiah, Amberlee, Nathaniel, Makenzie, VeraMay, and Ares; great grandchildren, Landon and Avery; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved and adored.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Delaware, 901 East Basin Road, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 pm. Immediately following the memorial service, a celebration of life will be held at the Police & Fire Rod & Gun Club Inc, 100 Linstone Avenue, New Castle, DE.
The family extends its sincerest appreciation to all of the Compassionate Care Hospice nurses, especially Jessica Snyder and Jennifer West, for the exceptional care that they provided to Bruce.

Joy, I am so sorry for your loss. Bruce will be remembered by so many as the great car enthusiasts that he was. His love of family camping trips. Know I am thinking and praying for you all.
