Carmen J. Eysaldt, Jr.
July 18, 1930 - May 6, 2024
Carmen J. Eysaldt, Jr., age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on July 18, 1930, he was a son of the late Carmen J. and Angeline (Colombo) Eysaldt. Carmen made his career at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement. He also worked as a plumber for Local 26.
A true outdoorsman, Carmen savored every minute he spent in nature. He loved to be by the water, spending countless hours fishing, swimming, and boating. Carmen was also a member and past president of the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock. Anytime he was out and about, he loved to talk to people. Carmen’s greatest love was his family and he cherished all the memories they made together.
In addition to his parents, Carmen was preceded in death by his siblings, Nicholas Eysaldt, Joan Eysaldt, Louise Dolan, and Rose Hart. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. (Cartwright) Eysaldt; children, Peter Eysaldt of Kennett Square, PA and Ann Marie Mera (Tom) of Newark; grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, and Andrew.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at St. John’s the Beloved R.C. Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 pm. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmen’s memory to the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock, Pennsylvania Chapter, 501 Corinthian Avenue, Essington, PA 19029.
