Carolyn Dinsmore Miller

Carolyn Dinsmore Miller, age 89, of Delaware City, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 11, 2022.
Born in Delaware City, DE on July 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice Dinsmore. Carolyn attended and graduated from Delaware City School in 1950 with a graduating class of four. She furthered her education at Goldey-Beacom college from 1950-1952. Carolyn retired from the State of Delaware in 1992 and returned part time a few years later and fully retired at the age of 75. Carolyn worked as a Secretary and Treasurer to the Mayor and Council of Delaware City and served as a Councilwomen from 1990-1998. She volunteered for the Delaware City Day Celebration for many years, including writing the Grant to get the necessary funds for this yearly celebration. She was a Delaware City Park Commissioner for 30 years. Carolyn was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delaware City where she served as a Deacon and treasurer for several years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed everything and anything antique. Whether going to shows to collect or sell antiques, she passionately loved antiquing. Carolyn enjoyed spending most of her summers at the beach and past that tradition on to her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughters, Alice M. Miller and Linda J. Miller Watson; sister, Charlotte McCormick; and companion, Donald “Ducky” Williams. She is survived by her children, Susan Nemetz (Bill), Pat Michael (Jim), and Peggy Miller (Buff); son-in-law, Paul Watson; foster brother, Joseph Neel (Margaret); Grandchildren Keith (Fran), Erin, Ericka and Shalyn. Her great-granddaughters Lillian and Mayson. Her Children, Grandchildren and Great Granddaughters were her most precious gifts.
All services will be held privately. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carolyn’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Delaware City, 138 Jefferson Street, Delaware City, DE 19706 or Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Ste 101, Newark, DE 19713.
